Our selection process is designed to identify the qualities and characteristics that are typically shared by our most successful Dealers. We look for seasoned professionals with business and financial acumen, proven leadership and interpersonal skills and a passion for serving our customers.
If you are thinking about becoming a Canadian Tire Associate Dealer, it means you are ready to commit, deliver results and continue to grow and learn. Self-motivation is key. We look for hands-on individuals with a positive attitude, and the passion and dedication needed to excel. Retail experience is an asset, however, we look for transferable skills that will make you an exceptional retailer.
Along with a combination of experience and personal characteristics, we seek candidates willing to make an investment in their business. You will need to inject all of your personal equity into the business (up to 25% of the value of store inventory and fixed assets) to become a Dealer. As part of the selection process, a candidate will be required to submit his or her personal statement of net worth. One hundred percent of this initial investment goes toward the purchase of store inventory, assets and training.
Your first store will be assigned by the Canadian Tire Corporation and may be an existing location or a new build. As a result, you must be willing to relocate to the community in which the store is located. This may be anywhere in English- or French-speaking Canada, depending on your fluency in either language. The land and buildings are corporately-owned, and Dealers are charged for rent as a percentage of sales.
