Sulphur is a substance that occurs naturally in crude oil. During the refining process, almost all the sulphur is stripped out of the gasoline product, reducing it to less than one-tenth of one per cent.
The sulphur levels in Canadian Tire's petroleum products are well below all current government requirements.
In June 1999, regulations were introduced to reduce sulphur levels in gasoline from the current maximum level of 1000 parts per million (ppm), to 30 ppm by January 1, 2005. The regulation states that the average sulphur level of gasoline produced from July 2002 to December 31, 2004 must not exceed 150 ppm.
Canadian Tire Petroleum will meet the new product regulations, including the interim step.
Car engines are not damaged by sulphur at the current levels.
Canadian Tire Petroleum stands behind the quality of its products and guarantees that any problems related to our product will be resolved to the customer's reasonable satisfaction.
