Learn more about CT REIT’s ESG efforts
CT REIT is an unincorporated, closed-end real estate investment trust formed in 2013, which owns, develops and leases income-producing commercial properties across Canada, primarily occupied or anchored by Canadian Tire stores. As of December 31, 2022, CTC held a 68.7% effective interest in CT REIT. In addition to collaborating with CTC, CT REIT undertakes many of its own ESG initiatives, including the announcement of its first net zero1 building, community philanthropy and collaboration with many of its tenants on energy, water and waste audits.
CT REIT’s first public Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) assessment was published in 2022 covering 2021 data. GRESB is an ESG benchmarking tool specific to real estate that collects, validates and scores ESG data to provide comparable analyses of ESG activities. This assessment allows CT REIT’s ESG journey to be compared to other real estate peers and establishes the foundation by which it will advance its efforts.
