Training Building a team of great Dealers involves more than finding the right candidates. We recognize the necessity of providing a comprehensive training program to ensure new Dealers are prepared to run an efficient and profitable business and lead their teams in the Canadian Tire way.
We recognize that our Dealers come from a range of backgrounds and bring with them a variety of skills, knowledge and experience. As such, our Retail Leadership Development Program (RLDP) offers our candidates an extensive six-month training program, including four hands-on store placements and eight weeks of seminars and labs, customized to meet individual learning needs.
Learning takes place in selected host-Dealer stores, in classroom settings, through the Internet, and through collaboration with peers and mentors. A candidate’s progress through the program is closely monitored and adjustments to learning paths are made as required. Coaching and support is also provided for up to two years. There may be an additional six-month period before trained Dealers are awarded their first store.
Store Placement Once your training is successfully completed, you will be placed in your first store, upon availability, for a minimum of a two-year period. Your first store will be selected by Canadian Tire, with consideration to your language preference (English or French). You must be fully mobile and prepared to move anywhere within your language market for your first store. After two years, if performance expectations are met, you may qualify under the mobility system terms and be eligible to be offered an alternate store. At that time you are free to accept or decline the offer and can remain in your current store location if and until you accept another store location
