Partnering for the planet
In 2022, type A proudly partnered with Fashion Takes Action and Environment and Climate Change Canada on a textile recycling pilot. Using pre-loved activewear items that were donated at select Sport Chek® stores, the garments were broken down and given a new life in the form of a felt laundry hamper that was available in our stores as of winter 2023. This innovative pilot helped to show that that there is a business case for recycling textiles into stylish and practical consumer-facing products and was a finalist under the Environmental Leadership category at the Retail Council of Canada's 2023 Excellence in Retailing Awards.
